I have a lot of books, and when I mean a lot, a FUCKING lot. So, in order to read more I’m going to be picking books and sticking to ‘em. Normally, this does not bode well, but I’m going to fucking do it! Five books for the two seasons starting September 1st. Yes, I know this is technically not the first day of fall, but it’s my list damn it!
The Life of Pi by Yann Martel
So there is a film version of this beloved book coming out and why not avert the tragedy by reading it up front. Kevin Hellions recommended this one and I always trust my editor. He’s never steered me wrong and he has this ability to make me poor, it’s quite incredible.
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
I’ve had numerous opportunities to read this, and I’ve started but not been able to bring myself to finish it. Now with a film adaptation on the way, I’m making it a priority. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it and let’s just say, I think this may be one of my all time favorites when all is said and done.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin
I’ve proclaimed that I wouldn’t read this unless given to me and the one and only Stefanie Jones has come through. A masterpiece in many regards, I am looking forward to this in many respects.
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon
This is a must for a comic book fan, but more than that Chabon delivers a stunning narrative, prose to die for, and subject matter that shouldn’t work for a novel. I’ve started to read this, but have been discouraged to continue after picking up the dictionary every five second to look up a word. It’s brilliant, and it will be finished!
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
I know, why the fuck haven’t I read this yet? Well this will be rectified before the year is out, that is a guarantee. I loved the movie, I know I’ll hate it by the end of the book, but I don’t care. This is a must read for any sane person.C
