That's Martin and Louis (wink wink). They have the faces of writer Brian Clevinger and line artist Scott Wegener; they're foolish, vain, unlucky author self-insertion characters :)

You'll find out why they are where they are in Atomic Robo and the Shadow From Beyond Time (Vol. 3) issue 5!

Dude, Poolboy is the best shit I've ever seen. No lie. It's a lost movie from 1990 that is the worst film ever made, but it's pretty obvious it's on purpose. Words can't describe how fucked up this film is.

I greatly enjoyed the episode (got linked here from Chad).

I would like comment on the anthology idea because I feel that it wouldn't work in North American markets. Firstly I don't think that Superheroes specifically work in Black & White where as series that begin in Black & White work because you don't have the colorful costumes in mind from the beginning.

Also the nature of anthologies comes from the high volume they have to split the cost and keep it down (WSJ) or they feature smaller stories for the same reason (2000AD), I feel that if you wanted to use the same talent from American Superhero comics it is going to drive a book that is that many pages very high to the point where the intended audience would not be interested in it nor the audience.

Finally comics are still sold in Walmart they are just a specific kind of comics and they are in the book section/larger magazine rack section not at the front of the stores, probably because of the cost of those spots.

Chad your point about how people within supposing to understand what people not already entrenched would enjoy is probably the most honest I have heard when people have been asked how to 'improve' the industry.

I agree with you on most, or would mix up the love and accept a bit more. Your only choice really I flat out disagree with: Spider-Man. I hated the movies. I loved the comics and the cartoon and some of the novels (especially Jim Butcher's The Darkest Hour) but the movies: Tobey was fine, but Kirsten Dunst was ill-fitted for Mary Jane and the pacing was so slow. And I'm saying this as a fan of Kirsten Dunst. Anyway, otherwise, great list compiled and it will help those who have not see some of those movies sit back and say, "Well, now how did I miss that?" Or miss that it was based off of a comic.
